Performing Ballroom Auditions March 21st and 22nd

Performing Ballroom Auditions are this Thursday and Friday. The mandatory parent meeting is on Thursday, March 21 at 3:15 with the workshop to learn the choreography following the meeting. The audition is Friday, March 22 at 3:15. You must have a 2.0 GPA 2nd quarter OR no F’s and NG’s 2nd quarter with a 2.0 Cumulative GPA. Come ready to work hard and show your skill. For more information, please contact Mrs. Fulger in room 1813. See you then!

Book Character Costume Contest Winners

We had a wonderful turnout for the Book Character Costume Contest this Halloween, both with contestants and with an audience of students and parents. The costumes were amazing, and the variety of literature from which the characters were drawn was truly impressive.
The following are the winners and runners-up:
1st Place, ($50 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble): Rachel Davis dressed as the elegant Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. 2nd Place, ($25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble): Eduardo Gomez, dressed as Professor Abraham Van Helsing, in Dracula, a novel by Irish author Bram Stoker.
3rd Place, ($15 gift certificate) to Barnes and Noble: Timsy Rowe, dressed as Gertrude McFuzz, girl-bird character in a Dr. Seus (Theodor Seuss Geisel) picture book collection.
There was a six-way tie for 4th place ($5 gift certificates to Barnes and Noble):
Anita Argyle was dressed as Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter.
Julia Limb was Heidi, in Heidi.
Katherine Blackburn was Maid Marian in Robin Hood.
Samantha Sink was Tinkerbell, from Peter Pan.
Corina Fuentes was Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz
Drew Ashton was dressed as a Protector from the Red Pyramid, in the Kane Chronicles.
Honorary Mention went to:
Alia Pacheco as Alice from Twilight
Brenden Menard as one of the Three Musketeers.
Jasmine Hammond as White Tiger from The Tiger’s Curse
Katelynn Sanchez was Alex from Clockwork Orange,
Jordan Lawrence was dressed as a character from Bleach, a manga and anime series by Tite Kubo
Quintin Walker, dressed as Waldo, from Where’s Waldo?
Greg Thomson, dressed as a character from the Hunger Games
Brandon Black was dressed as “Mario.”
